Activity Based Costing

The Centre for Excellence’s Job Cards module is a comprehensive cost collection application that allows any organisation to cost internal or external company activities. In addition to costing activities, the system manages the job allocation, job completion, quality assurance and reporting activities, providing productivity analysis in real time.

 Integrated with Oracle General Ledger, cost allocations are fully validated against account codes and budgetary requirements. This integration ties the financial reporting and corporate analysis capabilities of Oracle General Ledger to the productivity measurement, risk assessment and job costing capability of the Job Cards application.

Job Cards is one component of a suite of integrated applications developed by The Centre for Excellence for Local Government, Building and Manufacturing industries.

Design Philosophy

Job Cards has been designed as a flexible and generic activity costing system for all types of industries and all types of activities. Job Cards has application in Local Government for infrastructure maintenance on roads, footpaths, kerb and gutter etc, and in manufacturing environments to cost plant and infrastructure maintenance activities which fall outside of ERP/MRP systems, and for any other organization that wishes to look at job costing and productivity improvement in the workplace.

Job Cards has the ability to cost jobs against one business unit or department for the production of services for another business unit or department. The inter-company accounting that follows is automatically generated as journal transactions with Oracle General Ledger.
